Sabana REIT: 90c sell order filled.

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

My overnight sell order at 90c was filled. Those units which were bought at 87c and 88c were divested. I liken the gains to locking in income distributions in advance.

As I still have a sizeable investment in Sabana REIT, divesting those bought at lower prices for capital gain does not seem like a bad idea with market volatility likely to be the norm for a while. I could well have opportunities to buy in again on the cheap in future.

What if its unit price were to stay strong? That would make me happy too since I am still very much vested. Either way, I have a plan and that means I sleep better at night.

Although the MACD has completed a bullish crossover with the signal line, momentum is still negative. This is a rebound and not an uptrend.

90c is a natural resistance level. If this were to be broken convincingly, we could see its unit price rising higher to retest resistance in a band of prices from 91.5c to 92.5c.

Hi AK71,

The MACD is the front line indicator to predict the trend. Next will be those MAs, in this case, I would say Sabana is on an uptrend if it breaks 50d, 100d, or 200d MAs?

Hi INVS 2.0,

An uptrend forms when price forms higher lows and higher highs.

I don't know about making any predictions. Dangerous business, as you know. ;)

MACD crossing above the signal line is bullish but being below zero, momentum is still negative.

Yes, look to the MAs in future sessions. If golden crosses start forming, then, the worst could be behind us.

Hi AK71,

Oh! Now I can finally understand the MACD thing. I always overlooked the zero line. :/

Hi INVS 2.0,

Glad to share what little I know. As long as we bear in mind that TA is about probability and not certainty, we will not be disappointed. :)

Hi AK71, How many malls under LMIR is under freehold title?

AK71 said...

Hi Marco,

They are all leasehold, if I remember correctly but it is easy to get leases extended in Indonesia and at a nominal fee. :)

In Malaysia, many properties under REITs are under freehold title. Such QCAPITA, TWRREIT, UOAREIT, CMMT.

Hi Marco,

Yes, you are right. My parents had a condominium in K.L. and it was freehold too. :)

Wah, Ak

Your parents also quite savvy with property investment overseas.
I hold back from investing in a property in a foreign country unless I have future plans to migrate there or if I don't mind flying there often.
Perhaps that is why KL is a favorite place for Singaporean property investors.
I think I will keep my Sabana in my SRS for a while to collect dividends these 2 years.

Hi financialray,

That property in K.L. was bought before the Asian Financial Crisis. When we sold it a few years ago, we lost money although we got back the same amount in absolute Ringgit terms. Oh well, bygones.

Shall acquire landed freehold property in KL. No plan to buy property for investment in KL as I believe REIT is better in term of yield, trouble free and liquid.

I will buy property for own staying or lifestyle upgrading.

Hi AK71,

I am also seeking to sell some shares on Starhill Global, now that it has rebounded. Thanks for your kind TA advices, I know when to sell already. :)

It seems that the market is becoming less and less stable since 2008. Each time the market wants to recover, always a bad piece of news will shoot it down in flames.

Hi Marco,

That sounds like a plan to me.

Good luck and happy house hunting. :)

Hi INVS 2.0,

I am happy to share what I know. You are welcome. :)

Good luck in your investments and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. :)

Looks like you made another good move. The west got spooked again.

Hi Hwang,

I will not say that we are going into bear territory for sure but I will say that volatility is the new normal for the next few months.

So, if I am able to make some pocket money from trading some of my investments, I will. ;)
