Tea with AK71: Macarons from ZUJI.

Wednesday, December 7, 2011

Today, I got a treat from ZUJI. They sent me a box of six macarons. What are macarons? I know what is macaroni. ;-p

Very nicely boxed and ribboned.

Wikipedia says it is "a sweet confectionery made with egg whites, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond powder and food coloring. The macaron is commonly filled with buttercream or jam filling sandwiched between two cookies."

Letter says to eat within 3 days but the expiry date on the box says 8 Dec 2011.

According to a colleague, these macarons are quite pricey and they are being sold in atas places like MBS. Price? $3+ each! Oh, my goodness! I could have a very good lunch for $3! Sorry for the exclamations but I am not well informed when it comes to atas food and atas malls.

If I was not told, I would have thought the box of macarons is at most $5 in price. So, this box of 6 macarons is worth more than $18!

I was told that Canele is definitely branded.

Macarons melted and cracked during delivery but the aroma was heavenly. Yummy too.

Oh well, just food to me. It is very nice of ZUJI to send me something sweet for booking hotel rooms and sometimes air tickets through them. I do have a sweet tooth. :)

I just had one today too! Mmmmm...

Life is good! Especially if the treat is free!

Hi SMOL,

I would be most disturbed if a treat was not free! ;p

How much does a macaron cost in Greece? As expensive as it is here in Singapore or less so? I can't imagine it being more expensive.

Hello AK,

I think it's around 3 euros (SGD5?) EACH for the Macarons!!! I very lucky one collague had a nameday today (it's a Greek orthodox thing - not a birthday)

The food here in Athens is in genenal double that of Singapore.

Macdonald is 5.90 euros - ouch!

I think the most expensive Macarons are in Switzerland. I see only in Basel; never buy. Safe haven currency super strong!

LOL!

I've never had a macaron before. and won't know it's price. to me it looks too sweet, and too much colour.
anything that looks too pretty is never good. LOL

Hi SMOL,

Wow! Things are expensive in Greece! Well, I really hope they avoid bankruptcy. Still a wild card.

I will be more appreciative of the $2.50 Pontian Wanton Noodles in Redhill Market from now on. I am already appreciative but I will be more so from now. ;p

Hi Jaime,

You are a prudent one! Tree frogs are colorful and pretty to look at. I know for a fact that they are not good for us! ;p
