Tea with AK71: Ipoh Hor Fun (Holland Village).

Thursday, September 27, 2012

Some time ago, I blogged about a higher purpose in having passive income in our lives which, to me, is to be able to spend more quality time with family as we spend less time at work. Of course, being able to spend money more freely is a nice feeling too.

Since moving back to stay with my family, I have been spending more time with my family, especially my mother. We would go and exercise in the gym and attend yoga classes together. We talk a lot more too, which can be good and bad (and this is the honest truth).

Today, we were supposed to go to the gym but I asked if she would like to skip gym and go for Ipoh Hor Fun in Holland Village instead. Since both of us are naturally lazy, I didn't have to do any persuading for her to agree to it.

Ipoh Hor Fun with vegetable, fried wanton and char siew. $4.50.

Ipoh Hor Fun with vegetable, fried wanton and char siew in curry. $4.50.

Dumpling soup. $5.00.

Inexpensive. :)

Burp.

Hey AK,
All the way from Sg to Ipoh?
Yea, time with family is the most precious :)

Hi LCF,

Hahaha... The last time I had Ipoh hor fun in Ipoh was more than 2 years ago. I sat at a table on the roadside with a few colleagues, I remember. There was also a tow gay dish which was very yummy. :)

We can have Ipoh hor fun in Singapore too but just more expensive. Last night, I went to the one at Holland Village.

ok that sounds odd coz I think you mean fat ipoh tau-geh or bean sprouts, but when I first read your comment I was wondering why you wanna 'tow a gay' and how it was very yummy...:D

Oh side note I just thought about - I chatted on the phone with one of my reader 2 nights ago and and he was venturing into S-REIT...so I just recommended ASSI to him

Hi LCF,

Yes, yes, tau-geh! Hahahaha... Definitely looks better than tow gay! ;p

Thanks for sending your reader to my blog. :)

The hor fun looks yummy! :)

Hi DW,

Looks yummy and tastes yummy! Reasonably priced too. I like. :)

When I was younger, I didn't like hor fun. I much preferred wanton noodles. Over time, I grew to prefer hor fun to noodles. Don't know why.

Seems it's not hawker center, a small restaurant indeed?

AK71 said...

Hi Ah John,

Yup, it is a small, no-frills restaurant in Holland Village. I think you might be able to see the address on the receipt if you want to know where exactly in Holland Village it is.

I think the restaurant should pay me a small advertising fee. ;p

Hi SnOOpy168,

In my 20s, I enjoyed western fast food a lot. Now, I don't enjoy it as much. I must prefer eastern fast food now. ;)

I am being asked to attend a conference in America in the next couple of months. Sigh. I don't wanna go...

company paid trip. Go lah. get out of your comfort zone for a short while and check things out. Perhaps you will find something interesting.

Hi SnOOpy168,

I used to travel to the USA every year for work. It has been 7 or 8 years since my last trip there. The flight and time difference are killers.

Sigh. If I gotta do it, I gotta do it...
