How much will my tea break and lunch cost tomorrow?

Tuesday, July 23, 2013

This is an impromptu blog post in response to a comment by a reader, Serendib, in an earlier blog post: here.

That is how much my tea break and lunch will cost tomorrow. Yup, a grand total of $1.00. Actually, it will be less because I will get a 5% rebate from the SMRT Pay Wave VISA and I will also get a rebate from being a NTUC CO-OP shareholder. If you can see me now, I am smiling.

Tea to be provided by the office pantry, of course.

I am quite looking forward to having this tomorrow. In fact, I am tempted to eat one now but I shall resist! Yum, yum.

I am on an austerity drive...cos I overspent the last 2 months...blow my last 2 months salary on shopping, other pp's wedding , birthday celebration and travel.

Oh another culprit is online shopping, can shop even if you don't step out of the house.haha...temptation is everywhere!

Hi Garfield,

Online shopping? I think you might be related to Endrene. ;p

If your austerity drive works out nicely, you could consider extending it for ... er ... ever. ;p

THAT does not look very healthy!
Bad Carbs, greasy, lack of fibre, no protein..... :)

AK71 said...

Hi JCK,

I had oatmeal with soya bean milk and a small bowl of soya bean curd for breakfast. Enough protein, I think. ;)

Grease? Where, where?

I will have an orange for dinner to get some fibre. LOL!

Ak,

How about having a salad for lunch once in a while ? It will be more expensive than your bread but it will do wonders for your health.

AK71 said...

Hi Matt,

That is a good idea! I do like the occasional salad but it is usually consumed during dinner. :)

AK,

Endrene are related...as in, we are women and women like shopping and good bargains.

It is a genetic issue..hahaha.but I am controlling myself with an excel spreadsheet.

AK71 said...

Hi Garfield,

Excel? Wah! High tech shopaholic! Haha... Good on you! :)

Hi AK

I admired your determination on a low-cost simple lunch. Not many people can do that.

Hi Dividend Chaser,

You think too highly of me. Really. :)

Food just isn't one of those things which is very high up on my list of expenses when I am eating alone.

I am willing to spend more when I am out with friends and family but when I am alone, I just keep things really simple. It comes naturally to me. No effort. :)

Hi AK,

o.Oh, looking at what you eat, I suspect that you are under nourished. So much carbo. Unhealthy diet! *Shaking head disapprovingly...again* :P

Hey Garfield, keep yourself really busy then you don't have to go on an austerity drive. But I don't mean busy shopping hor! :D

I'm actually quite a fussy shopper. I don't really buy many things when I go shopping in the malls. I'm quite efficiency driven and I have a nagging need to compare prices. Haha. Yes, so eBay shopping is the choice. I have a feedback rating of 1000+, all from sellers and accumulated over 11 years. :P

I like shopping on the stock market too! And AK, please hold your urge to tell me that I would have made myself a small fortune if I'd converted my frivolous purchases into stocks. Hmmm...I make money to buy happiness, eventhough I must admit that this happiness is shortlived. That's why I need to replenish my happiness frequently! LOL~

Hi Endrene,

I had steamed rice, vegetables, braised pork, mushroom and beancurd for dinner. Also had an orange.

I don't eat bread only lah. LOL.

I have absolutely no urge to tell you what you could have done with the money you spent shopping. We have our own poisons. Hey, I own a car and a couple of luxury watches! I am not going to act holier than thou! ;p

EY said...

Hi AK,

Haha. I think the person with that holier than thou attitude is me!

Talking about nutrition, I only had a choc-chip scone from Four Leaves and half pack of D7 dried mango for dinner. :P

But breakfast this morning is sumptious! Cannot share though, or it'll appear that I'm a glutton. LOL~

Have a great day ahead!

Cheers,
Endrene

Hi Endrene,

Ooooo... D7 Mangos. Did you mean half a pack of 100g or half a pack of 200g? I always buy the 200g ones when they are on special offer. Bestest! ;p

EY said...

Hi AK,

I bought 4 packs of 200g at $5 each from Star Mart at Caltex.

Can you smell a good deal from afar now? Haha.

Endrene

AK71 said...

Hi Endrene,

$5? That is expensive. I paid $4.65 at NTUC Fairprice when it was on sale. ;)

EY said...

Hi AK,

$0.35X4=$1.40

Did you just say that I'd forgone 2 ang ku kuehs for my four packs of D7? :(

Hi Endrene,

I rather think that you could have had a piping hot curry puff from Old Chang Kee at no extra cost. ;p
