Please spare the rapist.

Friday, September 13, 2013

Some people have no shame. Really.

The mother of one of the New Delhi gang rapists who will be sentenced on Friday has called for leniency to be shown to her 20-year-old son whom she said was led astray.

"The judge should give them a second chance to reform themselves. Even God gives every person a second chance," Devi said on Thursday afternoon.

What about the rape victim? Who gave her a chance?

Hi Steven,

The mother of the rapist should at least have the decency to keep mum (pardon the pun).

Hi AK71,

I think its the unconditional love of a mother that has blinded her thinking. I do believe that the rapist should be given the full punishment but one cannot fault the mother for trying to defend her flesh and blood. It's only natural for a mum to do that for her child. My 1 1/2 cents worth @_@

The judge hearing the case of four men convicted for a shocking gang rape on a bus in New Delhi last December sentenced them to death on Friday.

Hi Kelvin,

I understand that she loves her child but her plea was untenable. How would the mother of the rape victim react to it?

I agree that her emotions probably clouded her thinking. This holds a lesson for investors too: Don't let emotions cloud our thinking. :)

I think death sentence is too severe punishment. The sentence may be politically motivated, to please the masses.
It could be also a preventive measure, there is chinese saying " kill one silence 100". this serves as a serious warning to other rapists, but unfortunate for these 4.

Hi BP,

The most unfortunate person was the rape victim. I feel that a stiff sentence is important to whack home the message and the death sentence is as strong a deterrent as there ever could be.

India, in recent times, has gained a reputation as an unsafe country for females. Some people even call it a country of rapists.
