Unscrupulous and rude person from Prudential.

Thursday, September 5, 2013

My sister told me she had a cold call from Prudential.

When she heard the caller was from Prudential, she replied that she already has an agent from the company. The caller asked for the name of her agent and went on to say how some agents do not provide good service etc. When my sister told her that she is happy with her agent, the caller just slammed down the phone on her.

I have been told by quite a few people before that Prudential agents have no qualms about pouching clients belonging to fellow agents. It seems that there is some truth in this.

I told my sister that she should have asked for the person's name. Anyway, her phone has Caller ID and she has noted down the phone number of the caller. I wonder if she should report this to Prudential or would it be a waste of time?

i would report because it is quite unethical to poach customers from another fellow agent in the same co and im sure prudential doesn't want that. Also because the agent was so rude to slam the phone. Third option is to expose the number on ASSI blog so that the community can blacklist the number ;)

Hi Ray,

I wonder if there is someone from Prudential HQ in Singapore who could advise on this because I don't want to report this and it gets filed somewhere and forgotten.

I could publish the caller's phone number here but I am wary of the legal ramifications, if any. I am not schooled in this area of the Law. -.-"

Hi AK,

Legal ramifications are not so nice to deal with! =). What's more is that the number could be a generic number. I think your sister could opt out for any telemarketing. The website is: http://www.pdpc.gov.sg/individuals/do-not-call-registry-you. Nonetheless, companies will still have means....

Hi AK,

If we think deeper that the officer mentioned that some of the agents are bad, doesn't it drag Prudential as the brand? It's akin to "fratricide". If fact, sales agent should fight with INTEGRITY!!! Ok, I should tone down....

Hi Gary,

Hey, thanks for the link. :)

Indeed, when my sister told me about it, there was a mixture of feelings within me and none of them good. It also brought back memories of what a few friends told me about Prudential agents before. I don't know why but I have not heard such things about agents from other companies. So far, only Prudential.

No smoke without fire. -.-

Apparently, some of the Prudential agent are not very frank when they attempt to sell their product. I had encounter twice, where I accompany my family member to hear out on their "attractive" saving plan offer. Instead of be frank that it is an investment plan, they tried to position such product as a "Long Term" Saving plan with 3% interest, where the reality is the 3% not even guaranteed.

Hi PSTan,

That is not just a question of frankness. I'll be frank, it is blatant misrepresentation! A definite lack of good faith.

Unfortunately, too common. Read what happened to my sis in a local bank? Terrible! -.-
