Old Chang Kee: Curry Times.

Wednesday, April 23, 2014

Talented OCK supporter! LOL!
I have always wanted to try the Fried Laksa and the Ngo Hiang in Curry Times by Old Chang Kee. However, each time I walked past the outlet in Westgate, I would see a long queue and I really dislike waiting in queues. So, I would walk away.

Today, I got to Westgate a bit earlier in the evening and the restaurant was only half filled. I didn't have to queue. Lucky!

I didn't have to wait too long for them to serve me my orders. Thumbs up!

Fried Laksa:

Ngo Hiang:

Yummy! I like!

As I was tucking in, a queue formed outside the restaurant. Wow! That improved my appetite! Old Chang Kee is doing well!

Photo taken after I left the restaurant.
It was about 6.45pm.

You know how we get mints from some restaurants after dinner? At Curry Times, we get some nice old fashioned biscuits. I really like the ones similar in size to 5 cent coins with the little coloured sugar tops. Diners get to help themselves to a cupful when they pay at the cashier!

See the big jar of colourful biscuits?
Click on the photo and see if they bring back memories.

I will have to bring my mom next time. I think she will like the Chendol.

It used to have a one for one offer for its curry chicken rice when it first opened. Too bad, I only had it once with my mother.

Hi PIB,

I am sure their curry chicken is good! It is OCK, after all. ;p

Hi AK,

Wow fried laksa? Never tried before. How does it compare to katong laksa?

Hi aceirus,

Cannot compare. They are delicious in their own ways. ;)

Hi FoodieFC,

Just like how Warren Buffett loves eating Dairy Queen's ice cream and drinking Coca Cola, I love eating Old Chang Kee's comfort food! ;p

Wait. Doesn't this meal cost more than 5 bucks? Gasp!

Hi Mark,

Terrible, isn't it? LOL.

I am not an oatmeal monster, you know. ;p

You aren't? That's new..
Tonight is sashimi gorging night for me. I do have milk and oatmeal in my fridge. The raw rolled ones. From NTUC. So expensive. I think it's organic.. I need recipes.

Hi Mark,

Oatmeal recipe? For me, it is just boil in water and add some soya milk. Easy. ;p

A meal with numerous benefits.

I tried Old Chang Kee's traditional beef dish (served with rice) a few days ago. Pretty yummy as well and the price is relatively affordable ($4.90).

Look forward to you sharing more of Old Chang Kee's 'delicacies' in your future blog posts...

Hi Sun,

I don't take beef. So, it is good to have you as ASSI's official taster for their beef dishes. ;p

just tried It.

Fried laksa is unique... ngoh hiong is not nice.
Curry chicken is not bad.

would I go again? Nope. Price is not cheap, better value elsewhere.

Hi BP,

I prefer the ngo hiang to the fried laksa leh. I guess taste is really a personal thing.

I will tell the management to buck up and think of ways to retain customers! -.-"

Who says OCK no sell kopi and teh?
They sell Chendol also, OK?
It is time for Curry Times! :p
Support AK's business!
Teh and kopi cheaper than Starbucks, Kopi Bean and some say McCafe! ;)
