Benjamin Graham's value investing method in one day!

Wednesday, March 11, 2015

Many of us have heard of value investing and that Warren Buffett's "shifu" was Benjamin Graham. Not many of us know, however, that a group of young people who are enthusiastic about investment education are working tirelessly to bring the original investment principles espoused by Benjamin Graham to the investment community in Singapore. This is what they have to say:

The popular Value Investing Mastery Class (VIMC) developed by BigFatPurse.com was first conducted in February 2014. In the past one year, 19 classes have completed successfully with thanks to the kind reviews by fellow bloggers and attendees who referred their friends and family to the course.

Unlike most value investing courses which teaches the Warren Buffett's strategy, VIMC focuses on the original Benjamin Graham's investment principles that are simpler and less time-consuming for busy investors to implement.

The class focuses on how to pick stocks systematically, objectively and quickly, based on today’s valuation without the need for unreliable guess work of future value or other time-consuming research.

VIMC is a full-day course for retail investors with the goal of getting a 10-15% return per year, aiming to outperform the Straits Times Index. The investing strategy is based upon the BigFatPurse.com’s proprietary Conservative Net Asset Value (CNAV) method.

Attendees will receive a great deal of useful information with over hundred pages of notes. Tea breaks and lunch are also provided during the event. The course fee for the entire day is an affordable $98!

Trainers for the course are Alvin Chow and Louis Koay.

Alvin Chow is the founder of BigFatPurse.com, and the author of “Secrets of Singapore Trading Gurus”. He speaks regularly in local seminars educating the public about personal investments.

Louis Koay graduated from the National University of Singapore with First Class Honours and he had passed all 3 levels of Chartered Financial Analyst examinations.

The class has received excellent reviews from earlier graduates. These were what they said,

"As a beginner investor, VIMC has helped me to clarify financial statement reading and has given me a way to start investing sensibly. By far one of the most valuable experiences for me," and

"This course is really worth and undervalued. 98 SGD for a life time skill is absolutely worth."

I attended this course today though I registered some time before AK's special offer.

I thought it was very educational. Both Alvin and Louis are knowledgeable speakers who are clearly passionate about value investing. They could able to convey their concepts in a succinct fashion and were very generous in sharing their experiences.
