Tea with AK71: ASSI is on Twitter!

Some time back, a reader, Chu Yeow, asked if I was considering getting a Twitter account.  Being an IT dinosaur, I was already caught up with blogging and I was not sure what Twitter did and I didn't see the need for it. What I do know is that it has a little bird logo.

Anyway, today, I decided to just register for a Twitter account and see how it goes (although I still do not know if it would be something useful or not).  After all, I see many blogs with "Follow me on Twitter" buttons too.  OK, ok, I know. I should not just do something because other people are doing it.

My Twitter ID is "AK71SG".  It is a shame that the ID "AK71" was already taken.  So, "AK71SG" is the next best thing since I am AK71 and I am in Singapore. Very clever, don't you think? ;-p

Follow AK71SG on Twitter

If anyone has any idea as to how I could derive benefits from having a Twitter account, please share with me by leaving me a comment.  I would be most grateful as, obviously, I am not the most IT savvy person around. :-)

  2. Hi Hubert,

My first comment on the subject! Thanks! :)

Yes, this is one use I have thought of but wouldn't people who like my blog have signed up for feeds, email notification etc? So, is Twitter really a waste of time? Hmmm...

  3. Yes, it wouldn't be so effective as twitter mainly targets the youngsters..

  4. Hi Hubert,

What are the chances of having more young people like yourself and Nick being interested in financial freedom, I wonder? ;)

  6. Hi Drizzt,

Please guide me on my Tweeting journey. I like surprises as long as they are pleasant ones. :)

  7. Wow great, you started using Twitter! I followed you immediately when I read this blog post :)

Here're some ideas of what you can do:
    1. Post links to your blog posts after you've written them like Hubert said before.
    2. Quick short tweets on any news on stocks you follow.
    3. Anything else you wanna say about the stock market or economy that wouldn't be long enough to fit into a blog post.
    4. And of course, friendly chit chat now and then :)

  8. Hi Chu Yeow,

You must take responsibility for planting this little idea in my head! ;p

Blogging has so far been very fun and even addictive. Let us see how tweeting goes.

I am generally not a person of few words. So, tweeting might not be very satisfying for me. Well, no harm trying it out, I suppose.

Thanks for the suggestions on how to use Twitter. :)

  10. Hmm. Is there a way to link the ASSI Twitt to FB or it's FB fan page ?

I would like to avoid signing up anymore social network than I can handle. Appreciate it .

    Kiam sia.

  11. Hi SnOOpy168,

    Why not 338 or 888? ;p

Er, I don't have FB. Twitter is an experiment for me. There is no guarantee that I would continue to use it. ;)

  12. 168 = 一路发 (prosperity/huat all the way) Got it ?

How dare you call me 388 ah ?
    三八

    ^-^

No FB ah. NVM, stick to what you are familiar with - the blog & it's content. Too much technology may consume you & blur your original objectives.

  13. Hi AK,

Wah, twittering now :) Too much for me, sorry for not following your twitter :)

But if you find the experience satisfying, let me know, maybe I'll try too :)

Btw, snoopy's 168 is good and auspicious in cantonese :) One road to riches..literally translated :)

  14. Hi SnOOpy88,

I thought 338 is "rise rise HUAT". hehe..

I am no high tech whizz. Will see how Twitter turns out. :)

  15. Hi LP,

I don't know about satisfying but it is one more thing to take care of. Imagine if my Twitter account stops Tweeting. Haha.. Early days. Will see how things go. ;)
