一百万 : $1,000,000!

Since I am in the mood, here is another Hokkien song. This one has English subtitles:

"I will buy a car, a house, a shop to collect rent, lead a carefree life, walking the dog!"

  1. LOL!

    I enjoyed this song!

Thank you for making my mood "song song" :)

I can identify with this song!

My first flight was to KL when I was 27. Imagine that! And that's for work after switching from retail sales to merchandising.

Last night while watching the news on the flooding of Charles Bridge in Prague, I turned around told mom I was there 3 years ago on vacation.

It's a blessing to have no idea what tomorrow brings ;)

    Musings from flower monk,

  2. Hi SMOL,

Good and free things, die, die, must share. :D

Some stuff, we can manage. Some stuff, there is just no managing. We can only do what we can. :)

  3. My colleague favourite song at KTV...but his hokkien is half past 6....so it is very funny when he sings it.

But come to think abt it what can a S$1 mil buys you nowadays. Probably, lyrics have to change to S$10 mil.

  4. Hi AK,

These are really OLD songs wor. Remember hearing these two during my late teens or early twenties!

Was very amused by the lyrics of 欢喜就好. Is that the reason why you buy small small car, small small house, and not getting married? :P

Sometimes, we do really need reminders to live simply and be happy.

The Ah Lian in me gives you two thumbs and two big toes up for the silly songs! Hahahaha.

    Cheers,
    Endrene

  6. Hi Garfield,

I remember one version of the song ends with a lady talking loudly with a Beijing accent:

yi bai wan shi shen me, you ben shi zhuan ge yi yi!

    ;p

  7. Hi Endrene,

I am a natural worrier. So, this song is a good reminder for me to take it easy from time to time. :)

The worrier in me tells me not to spend beyond my means which is perhaps why I bought a small small car, a small small hut for a home and have a small small one person family. ;)

  8. Hi AK,

Erring on the safe side is ok but worrying gives you wrinkles. You need to stop doing that!

I'd rather think that you bought a small car because it is cute and fuel efficiency, a small house to get closer to your neighbours, and have a small one person family so that you have space for another one? :D

It's a good thing to enjoy happiness in small doses. They probably last longer. Both the money and the joy.

So play the song more often and smile more. :)

  9. Thanks AK!

I like this song very much too ;)

I remember going to Queen Street Kwan Yin Ma many years ago and there I heard one of the open air vendors playing this song.

Love the tune and bought the DVD set there and then.

You quite a romantic too! That girl of yours must have left quite a deep impression in you ;)

  10. Ak,

养儿防老。a conservative man sh rear a few kids to take care of him when he is old, so your not buying insurance? ;) 你耍嘴皮是耍不过我的。

  11. Hi Endrene,

Unfortunately, cannot stop worrying. Conditioned over too many years. Anyway, worrying keeps me grounded. I think I would worry if I stop worrying. ;p

  12. Hi SMOL,

Romantic? I am totally lost now. How did you arrive at that conclusion, I have no idea. O_o

  13. Hi Garfield,

I am so well insured that insurance agents can't possibly sell me anything else, if they are honest. Ok, ok, I know what you are going to say next (unless you are an insurance agent) but let us be nice. ;)

  14. I am sorry if I sound offensive, I also don't think marriage or children are any form of insurance, we are on the same page on this;)

  15. Hi Garfield,

Not at all. It takes much more to offend me. :)

I feel that if people have children with the hope that they can depend on them in their old age need to think again.

People who have children simply because they like children have less possibility of being disappointed in future. ;p

  16. AK,

Only a romantic would ask rain drops what is love...

Who listens to such "mushy" songs?

And why do we listen to such songs?

    Aw...

    LOL!

  17. Hi SMOL,

Aiyoh, I think you need reading glasses liao. Go get a pair made. That song was recommended by EY (aka Endrene). Not me wor.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Oh, yes yes yes. The romantic is me! :D

Certainly not an identity that gets associated with me often.

BTW, SMOL, AK's saying that you are OLD leh. Ask you to make reading glasses. (Oh sure, I'm really sowing discord here!) :P

Anyway, glad you like the song, SMOL. ‘谁人为爱赌生死’appeals to the gambler in me! The '雨水我问你' is a bit wishy washy though. Ask the rain and get no answer. Me no like. :P

  19. 1) AK and Endrene,

Alamak! Now I feel so red-faced.

Young I always thought older people who lift their glasses to read near stuffs funny.

Guess what? Now I do it too! I started doing it last year... LOL!

I honestly thought it was AK recommending that song to me and you Endrene.

No wonder my response left AK no-head; no tail...

And I was so happy AK is revealing the "gentler" side of him. Ha ha!

    2) Endrene, that boy left a deep impression didn't he...

Yes. To love is gambling. And it takes courage.

  20. Hi SMOL and AK,

Talking about wearing glasses, I think my eyesight is no longer 6/6!

Just to satisfy your curiosity, SMOL, I had only one other serious relationship before I got married. He is still a friend till this date. Personality too similar. So we need to maintain a distance to keep the harmony. For those other guys whom I dated, there weren't enough sparks for me to miss them. Haha.

I tend to be more rational than emotional. I like your view. To love is to gamble. But must know how much to stake and when to cut loss. :D

    Endrene

  21. Hi EY and ak and smol,

An unlikely post than has diverted to the matter of hearts.

It seems like my dream guy never like me and pp who like me never excit me....Haha... And things like this come to haunt u later in life.... This guy who used to woo me .... Move to my neighborhood and is married. and makes me think what would life be if my decision was otherwise....haha...

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hi Garfield,

For some reason, I thought you were a guy. Actually, were Garfield and Odie male or female? Hmmm... Well, the voice over for Garfield was definitely a man's.

    Late night revelation. :D

    ReplyDelete
  23. Haha Ak71,

A guy don't go to a girls school, u need glasses too. Check my post on your city harvest church write up recently... hahaha... The haunting is real......hahaha...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hi Garfield,

Soon, soon. Anyone above 40 years old will need reading glasses. Just a matter of time. ;p

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hi Garfield,

Maybe that guy who moved into your neighbourhood is also having regrets that he hadn't persisted in pursuing you? ;P

If I bump into those guys whom I had gone out with, I hope at the very least, they would comfort themselves that their taste wasn't so bad afterall. Hope it won't be a response like 'Heng ah, didn't marry her!' LOL~

Savour the good memories and smile because they had happened. Memories are priceless. :) Have a nice and cheery weekend!

    Cheers,
    Endrene

  26. Thanks Garfield75!

I feel happy AK got hit by your bummerang too.

(AK, song bo? LOL! OMG, its ages since I used "song bo" when playing Countertrike...)

Moral of story: We all need glasses past 40!

Yes, Garfiled75. It's a timeless dilemma we all ask ourselves:

Is it better to love; or be loved?

  27. Hi SMOL,

What is counter strike? Is it like bench marking? Marking (public) benches is illegal and striking counters is plain bad manners. Tsk, tsk. Bad SMOL.

You must learn to love counters and benches although they will not love you back. ;)

  28. I never go out with him or give him a chance....not my type. I think used to be from the Rugby team in my JC...the muscles had turned to fats....

So EY, I think I am the one who should say "Heng ah".... Haha...
