Letter from a Brigadier General.

Slightly more than a year ago, I received a letter that had the words "ON GOVERNMENT SERVICE" and our national crest on the envelope. I had palpitations.

Today, it happened again!

This time, I received a letter from BG Tung Yui Fai of the Singapore Armed Forces.

Enclosed with the letter are 8 pieces of $10.00 vouchers which can be used at more than 5,000 outlets in Singapore! They include petrol stations, supermarkets and F&B outlets!

Accepted at Old Chang Kee as well, I guess I will be having free curry puffs for a while. Yummy!

  1. You're lucky, I still waiting for mine, registered during CNY till now haven't receive anything. If you ever visited the EDMW forum in HardwareZone, you can see many NS45 voucher bashing threads.

  3. On expectation level they told the public that 1st march you will receive

Then it was delay to end of march. Now I just received an email that they will send end of April.

That's why they are getting bashes

  4. Why go thru the trouble to print voucher, distribute and manage the money?

Just deposit direct to NS bank account will reduce carbon footprint.

  9. Hi Ak71,

NS bank account is just a pseudo name to state that all "NS money" (eg. IPPT rewards, marksmanship rewards, rank rewards, ICT pay, etc) will go directly into your personal bank account instead of issuing cheques or vouchers.

I haven't received mine since registration in early Feb.

  10. Hi INVS 2.0,

Thanks for enlightening me. As you can probably guess, I have not received any "NS money" in a very, very long time. :(

  11. hmm... AK, you only got $80? Means you still haven't M.R yet?

Anyway i got mine a couple of months back and very quickly spent everything on NTUC groceries.

  12. Hi Ray,

What is M.R.? You mean you got more than $80 and you got your vouchers 2 months ago? Wow! How come?

  13. MR = MINDEF reserve. i.e you have served your entire cycle. Once MR you become "ex NS" and SAF no longer can recall you (as far as i know).
Those Ex NS like my dad can get $100 vouchers. I only got $80 because i have not yet MR. I thought you should have MR by now??

  14. Hi Ray,

Oh, I think I am definitely in the M.R. but I have never been called back for ICT before. So, maybe, that is why I got only $80. :(

  15. ORD - operationally ready. Means NSF who turns into NSMen. Like if you see people with rank and (NS) these people ORD but have not MR or ROD yet.

ROD - run out date. Your scenario.

MR - mil reserve. They completed 10 cycles. Min of 7 high keys. They get a watch when they MR. People like me cant MR, but will ROD eventually. MR gets 100 bucks. You get 80 cause in their records you did not complete the needed ICT cycles to MR

  16. Hi Mark,

Wah! Thanks for unscrambling all the acronyms for me.

OK, that makes sense. People who go back for ICTs and complete their cycles should be rewarded more.

No ICTs and MR for me but I get $80. This is very good already. :D

  19. Mine actually arrived. Mom almost threw it away thinking it is some DM. Phew....

Seriously, why all these wayang for S$80 ? The marketing, printing, distribution cost. Direct credit will be better right ? Perhaps they wanted some high time visibility to tell the FTs that we are S$80 ahead of them, ONLY.....

  20. Hi SnOOpy168,

I am a simple person. If people give me free money, no matter the mode of payment, I will take and be grateful. ;)
