If AK can grow money trees, so can you!

Not too long ago, I revealed that I bought a money tree and a few other plants for my planter at home. I have spent some time re-potting them and I want to show them off:

The money tree is the tallest plant in the pot.

Re-potting the cacti was more daunting a task.

I hope I didn't damage their roots or something in the process. It would be totally inauspicious if the money tree should die on me.

What else do I do from time to time on weekends other than growing a money tree?

Well, I enjoy picking fruits from another money tree which I have been growing for many years.

Another money tree? It must be quite big to be bearing fruits, you might think.

Surprisingly, I don't need a pot or soil for this money tree. I just need a calculator, a pen and some paper. Got you!

Yes, it involves real money this time.

I am quite happy to spend some quality time with my money tree and my "money tree".

Like what you see? You can do it too. Believe it.

  3. Hi AK,

Why is a securities firm sending you share certificates? I have never received such letters before, usually it is from SGX.

  4. Hi RetailTrader,

When I was a boy, I remember staying in a house with a money plant. It was a giant of a plant and covered an entire fence on one side of the garden. It was beautiful! :)

Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of space in my little hut in the sky now. :(

  5. Hi MaoMao,

Some bits of my investments are held in a nominee account. :)

A "nominee account" is a type of account in which a stockbroker holds shares belonging to clients.

  6. Hi Capricon,

I think it depends on the brokerage and maybe the agreement we have with them. For me, there is no extra cost. Well, I don't remember there being any. -.-"

I also have these same stocks in my CDP account. Not everything is in the nominee account. So, I can still go to AGMs if I want to although I usually don't. Too lazy. -.-"

My broker arranged this facility for me many, many years ago because it was more convenient for me. I remember those were the days I had to send in cheques to pay for my purchases. Those were the T+7 days. Subsequently, it became T+5 and T+3.

So, having this facility allows me to ignore the T+3 issue. :)

  7. Hi AK

Can one! Moneyplant can be big or small. I grow mine in a 5 inch diameter pot. Bought it from Ikea at $1.50!

  8. Hi RetailTrader,

$1.50? OK, for $1.50, I might just experiment to see if I could control its growth although I am a bit apprehensive. LOL. ;p
