Evening with AK and friends 2017.

As promised, here are the details of the only session of "Evening with AK and friends" in 2017:
Venue:
Lifelong Learning Institute
11 Eunos Road 8
Event Hall 1-1
Singapore 408601

Date:
6 October 2017 (Friday)

Time:
7:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Buy tickets: HERE

This is, as usual, a chit chat session with AK. Nothing too cerebral.

Just bring along your sense of humour and, if you like, a pen and notebook.

Bring a pen and notebook for what? Take note of AK's jokes? Er...

You blur? I also blur.

---------------------------------
I am absolutely amazed that all 160 tickets were sold out in less than 4 hours.
However, readers who are still interested in getting tickets should check the ticketing site regularly up to 7 days before the event.

It is possible that some tickets could become available again as some readers give up their tickets for various reasons.

Haha thanks for organising Evening with AK! Now just hoping I get home soon enough to buy tix before everyone else wipes it out! Haha

    AK:
Usually, it sells out within a day or two, not an hour or two. So, I won't worry too much.

    Reader:
But who knows lah... Kiasu Singaporean

    AK:
I would be very amazed if sells out in an hour or two. 😮

  3. Hi NMHRGY,

This is the 3rd year I am doing this as I believe education is the best way to improve lives.

    See:
Make donations to help needy students.

If we can help the less privileged, why not? :)

  7. Hi JQ,

Too many things on my plate this year.

Anime, MMORPG, K-drama... The list goes on. Not enough time for me.

    Yes, I know.

    Bad AK! Bad AK! -.-"

  8. Hi AK,

you have retired which gives you extra 8hours on weekdays! Those K-Drama are like Deathly Hallows sucking all your precious time >,<

But Plate full can always eat slowly.

  9. Hi JQ,

To be fair to K drama, MMORPG takes up even more time. ;p

In retirement, I have even less free time than when I was gainfully employed. -.-"

  10. Time to grab your tickets and sell on the black market. LOL

  11. Hi AK,

Possible to share some of the reasons which led to you opting to retire?

  13. Hi Ben,

I don't want to spend all my life working for money because there are so many things I want to do in life. My time is limited. :)

Don't want to be in a situation where I do not have enough time to do what I want to do:
Financial freedom and not enough time.

I really have so many things that I enjoy doing and I need more time for them:
    Preparing for retirement.

Did I work too hard in my younger days and sacrifice too much? Well, I think achieving financial freedom makes it all worthwhile.
Did I work too hard in my younger days.

    :)

  14. Hi AK,

    Thks for sharing your reason.

I might have shared before. I intend to retire from full time employment before 40. I will be reaching the big 40 soon. Nowadays, the feeling of quitting the rat race is getting stronger. Likewise the same for you. I feel that my time is limited and I need to do things that I want to do. However, the uncertainty of whether I could really be free from the financial burden keeps me from making the big decision.

I know that I need to make such decision soon as I do not want to keep on dragging on the decision. The feeling of delaying the decision can be difficult at times.

It's better to make decision rather than no decision. In fact, by staying status quo is also a decision. Time is of essence.

    Ben

  15. Hi Ben,

Our chat is now a blog.

Why did AK want an early retirement?

I hope other readers will share their thoughts with us. :)

  16. Wow, was looking fwd to attend your one and only session this yr and it was already sold out?

Reminded me of the Jay Chou and Mayday concert tickets that were selling like hotcakes.

Guess I have to wait for the next available one.

Wonder if anyone will re-sell the ticket to your event on Carousell...

  17. Hi nch,

You are not the first person to think that there might be a black market for the tickets...

    I hope not. :(

  18. Hi AK,

Please allow this post to be posted as i hope that anyone who is unable to make it to the event and/or doesn't want to go can drop me an email at jin_wei_90@hotmail.com

    Thanks!

  19. Hi Ken,

You might also want to check the ticketing site regularly for refunded tickets as I doubt that your comment here will reach most readers who have tickets to the event. :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Also, please do not buy tickets from the black market.

Black market for "Evening with AK and friends".

Report black marketers so that we can process refunds and put the tickets back up for sale at the normal price.

May I know the theme or topic for the coming talk you're giving.
When I saw that you're giving a talk, knowing the tickets will be selling like hot cakes, without thinking,....fast fingers I got myself a ticket without a clue what you'll be touching on.

    AK:
"Evening with AK and friends" is a simple chit chat session. It is unstructured and what happens depends on what kind of questions the audience will ask. It is more of a social event.
If you decide this is not something you would like to spend an evening doing, please get a refund for your ticket. :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. If you want a refund for your ticket, you have to do it soon because this option won't be available once there are 7 days or lesser before the event. :)

  23. From my friend, Kenji Tay, who is organising the event:

"For those who wana get refund, pls ask them do so by this week. Becuaee i will be overseas next week.

"Once overseas, i wont be accessing my 'payment' portal for security purposes, fhus unable to do any refunds - until 23rd sep when i am back."

  24. A few tickets will be available this weekend once refunds have been processed in the evening of the 23rd. So, if you would like to to come to the event but did not manage to get a ticket earlier, this is another chance to get a ticket. The link is provided in this blog. :)

  25. Reader:
u r saying some tickets may free up this sat ? Will it be open for grab in your evite link? What time can I check in for availability ?

    AK:
Start checking the ticketing site in the evening of the 23rd. Once refunds have been processed, the ticketing site will automatically update to show the number of tickets which have become available. 🙂
