Eat Right 4 Your Type for a Healthy New Year!

Tuesday, January 1, 2013

I suggested to a friend who has been feeling lethargic of late to try eating right for his blood type. This is something I started doing a couple of years ago. Although it is hard to say if it is psychological, I always feel better when I eat what I am supposed to based on my blood type.

Better? Yes, I would feel less bloated. My nose would also stay clear instead of mucousy. The back of my throat would not itch. There is a general sense of well-being when I follow the blood type diet.

Here is a quick introduction:

There are connections among blood type, food, and disease.

Find an individualized plan that's right for your blood type.

In Eat Right 4 Your Type, see which foods, spices, teas, and condiments help someone of your blood type maintain optimal health and ideal weight; which vitamins and supplements to emphasize or avoid; which medications function best in your system; whether your stress goes to your muscles or your nervous system; whether your stress is relieved better through aerobics or meditation; whether you should walk, swim or play tennis or golf as your mode of exercise; how knowing your blood type can help you avoid many common viruses and infections; how knowing your blood type can help you fight back against life-threatening diseases; and how to slow down the aging process by avoiding factors specific to your blood type that cause rapid cell deterioration.

Hi AK,

Happy New Year! Your first post of 2013 - setting a healthy trend for the year.

I am sceptical about these claims but I guess the placebo/ psychological effect cannot be discounted. The supposed effects seem similar to chinese medicine which classify food into various categories such as heaty, cooling, yin and yang balances etc.

Well ultimately a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, low salt and oil etc should be something everyone can work towards to.

Best wishes,
Eugene

Hi Eugene,

Oh, I was quite sceptical too. I very much ate whatever I liked before. Ok, I still do it but less so. ;p

Indeed, I think there could be some psychological benefits to this but we should listen to our body. For what it is worth, I do feel better when I follow the blood type diet. Haha.. I guess that is what counts.

As for fruits and vegetables, not all are good for all blood types. It is quite an interesting read.

Happy New Year! :)

Hi AK,

I've read the book and found that the foods that I shld avoid according to my blood type are the ones that actually cause my eczema to flare up(its about 90% accurate for me.) My skin is a lot better when I follow the diet than when I do not.(i occasionally indulge...)So I think there is some truth to it.

That being said, the diet is torture for me as I am type A and cannot eat my favourite stuff like pork(Kuay Chap!!!) and beef and cheese(Pizza!!)...haha.

Hi Jeremy,

I know what you mean about it being a torture.

I am type B and if I were to follow the diet strictly, I should not be eating food made from wheat but I like bread, mee pok and pasta!

I should also avoid tomato but I love salsa!

I should also avoid corn but I like corn chips!

How to eat salsa without corn chips? Hahahaha... ;p
