Spent $5,900 in LV boutique in 20 minutes.

Monday, July 17, 2017

Wah! Such a long queue of people waiting to buy Old Chang Kee curry puffs or maybe waiting to get into Din Tai Fung?

Nah!

Mr Andy Koh, spent $5,900 on four items, including aT-shirt and bag. He held ticket No. 3. Says the NS-man, 23: "I didn't look at the price, I just grabbed the items."

These shoppers are so stupid!

Let me tell you a secret.

Ready?

Must fly to Europe and buy lah. Will save more money. Even AK knows this. These shoppers so stupid.

Most of these young buyers are re-sellers. They earn big profits by selling online to the highest bidders all over the world with the items in mint unopened condition. Some of them use the items once or twice to show off to their peers, then sell them away.
Tons of such re-sellers in HK especially.
The funny thing about the brand Supreme is that their "designs" basically consist of just the word SUPREME emblazoned in huge red fonts onto their products. And they are able to garner a huge loyal fan base all over the world on this hype. And they release their products in "limited" quantities, so are able to command prices.
LV produces increasingly large quantities of products nowadays, yet prices still defy gravity. Surprisingly (or maybe not), most buyers of LV products can't even differentiate which product is crafted from vinyl and which is crafted from leather. Many don't even now there's such thing as vinyl bags, lol.

Hi Laurence,

This blog has sparked a discussion along the same line on my FB wall. I am amazed!

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. ;)

Hi AK,

I find the range of products produced for the louis vuitton-supreme collaboration to be really hideous looking. I would rather use my funds to purchase LVMH shares instead. :P

I've been telling my friends for years already that if LV sells "luxury" ice-cubes in the shape of their LV monogram (letters LV) at ultra high prices in North Pole, even eskimos living there would queue overnight to buy some for their collection.

Hi Kevin,

Now, that is an idea I can understand. LOL. ;)

Hi Laurence,

ROFL! I don't know if I believe that but it sounds like it could happen. ;p

AK, must understand that most of these people are buying not for themselves, but to resell. You laugh at them but they laugh to the bank. 1 t-shirt that goes for about $600 can resell for $2500, that's more than 400% return. The jacket, about $1k+ can also go for $6000. They are entitled to buy 5 items, if they are able to sell 4 of the other items, they can keep the 5th item and still sit on a hefty profit. NSF no money but NSF is smart ;)

AK:
OK. I should laugh at the people who buy from the re-sellers.
