Good food at great discounts!

Tuesday, May 20, 2014

I like visiting the supermarkets towards closing time because I get to buy good food at big discounts!

Mackerel onigiri. Original price: $2.50.

Tastes even better at half price!

This is something I would do during my free and easy vacations in Hong Kong and Japan too. Stay near a supermarket and go shopping for dinner at 8.30pm.

The yum yum tastes yummier when the prices are marked down! I like!

I know how to make this.
Buy a 2.5kg pearl rice from NTUC. About 7 dollar.
Then buy ingredient. Like cucumber. Carrot. Egg and crabstick.
Think about 5 dollar for cost of ingredients.

Even cheaper and more yummy!
Hahahah

Hi yeh,

My sister makes onigiri sometimes for us at home. Definitely cheaper and fresher! LOL.

Well, for a bachelor who is staying alone, being able to get a $1.25 onigiri is not too bad. ;)

You must include mackerel in your list. Price will bump up a bit then. ;p

Hi AK,

Sorry for being blunt, Sometimes I wonder, the more money the rich people have, the more "ngiow" they are.

I know of a guy who makes millions, sold off all his property in Singapore, bought a property in JB, commute thru & fro daily, wasting 2 to 3 hours when coming in to Singapore via the causeway and he still think is worth it. He is daily hunting on a good bargain for food as well.

I don't see much enjoyment in life living this way. The lifestyle of quality living is being sacrificed.

Personnally, this is not the life I want.

Cheers :)
Sunny

Hi Sunny,

I am sure that there is a great deal of subjectivity here.

It depends on what we want and what we are willing to do to achieve it.

If the methods match our motivations, then, chances of us meeting our goals will be higher.

Of course, we have to question if we are happy in the entire process. It is a bit like choosing wallpaper, what one person likes might be different from what another person likes. ;)

The last time I had onigiri was on the Star Ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui. A few grains got stuck on my Bape t-shirt which I ate half an hour later upon discovery. I wonder if that qualifies as ngiow ji.

Hi E H,

This one takes the cake! Er... Let me rephrase that. This one takes the onigiri! ;p
