A movie: John Carter.

Monday, February 20, 2012

From Academy Award®–winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes “John Carter” — a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars).

John Carter” is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present.

The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins).

In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.

Hi Ak71,

I am glued towards Bu Bu Jing Xin nowadays. I wonder if you are watching? Mon - Fri, Channel 8, 7pm - 8pm. Very nice drama. :)

Hi INVS 2.0,

Yikes, I cannot tahan Bu Bu Jing Xin. The acting is so kayu. If you like drama about that period, you might want to watch PRC productions like Yong Zhen Huang Chao. I watch them on PPS TV on my iPad. Free of charge without any ads. :)

Hi SnOOpy168,

Thanks for visiting my sponsors and helping to generate a little blogging income for ASSI. :)

Hi Ak71,

I watched Yong Zheng Huang Chao too. Tang Guo Qiang's acting is way too serious for Gen Y viewers to endure but I completed it anyway.

BBJX is more towards romantic side, cannot be too serious or else no young ones will support it. But I must say out of so many ancient-styled romantic dramas, BBJX has the best acting and story plot.

Cannot have the best of both worlds, eh? :)

Hi INVS 2.0,

Oh, yes, I have totally forgotten about the generation gap. :(

When my sister told me a girl sang a happy birthday song to a boy in the drama, we both had a good laugh. It is probably meant to entertain a different age group, like you said.

Hi Ak71,

Nope, Ruoxi (the female lead) is from the modern day that got herself transported back to the ancient Qing by accident. She sang the modern birthday song to the 10th prince on his birthday, which the prince was flooded in confusion as the song was something new for that era. :)

Hi INVS 2.0,

Wah! You know your BBJX. I must go tell my sister about it. Hahaha.. We old folks must know when to keep quiet. ;p

Hi Ak71,

No la, I also watched several other history dramas like Kang Xi Di Guo and Han Wu Dan Di, although I am a Gen Y. :)

You can catch today's episode where the 4th prince sits on the dragon throne in the hall of supreme harmony and got confronted by the 8th, 9th and 10th prince. More realistic than the "sick bed argument" that erupted in Yong Zheng Huang Chao. :D :D

Hi INVS 2.0,

Since it comes highly recommended by you, I will wait for it to appear on PPS TV and give it another go. Hahaha... I like to watch something from start to end. :)

Hi Ak71,

Can watch on Youtube, there is a blu-ray version by one of the uploaders. :)
