ASSI celebrates third birthday!

Monday, December 24, 2012

On the Christmas Eve of 2009, ASSI was born. ASSI turns 3 today!

Blogs take a lot of energy and time to maintain. Of course, everyone has only so much energy and time. So, it is not surprising that with changes in one's priorities and interests, the amount of energy and time allocated to different activities in one's life would change.

Some bloggers have become very sporadic in their blogging efforts while others have stopped updating their blogs altogether. Of those who stopped, most just faded away quietly without any announcement or fanfare. Some of these blogs were updated for a few years while some for a few months.

Personally, I have been spending relatively less time blogging compared to when I first started. At various points in time, I also entertained thoughts of taking a long break from blogging for various reasons. Unless blogging is a livelihood, there is really no harm in taking a break from blogging. The fear is how a break could become a permanent leave of absence.

By some accounts, personal blogs which are still actively updated 3 years on are much rarer. ASSI now joins the ranks of these blogs.

This was taken in Shinjuku, Japan, last December.

Happy birthday, ASSI! If the journey had been somewhat bumpy along the way, hope it'll be smooth sailing henceforth!

Looking forward to post my birthday wishes for ASSI for many more years to come!

Hi Eugene,

It is probably a curse but my mind is always thinking about one thing or another. I always have something on my mind. My blog is like a Pensieve! ;)

The day I get writer's block is the day my mind suddenly goes blank, I guess. I have wondered what that would be like before. Ah, peace and quiet? Would be a nice change, I feel. :)

Hi Endrene,

It would be nice if everyone in this world is considerate and courteous. However, that is not going to happen. Just have to roll with the punches. ;)

I certainly hope to continue blogging for many more years. :)

2 days before Christmas in 2010, I made my maiden blog post :)

How the 2 years have flown by!!!

The coincidences are getting scary...(Cue twilight zone music) LOL!

I especially love your down to earth posts about nasi-lemak, oat-meals, curry puffs, and my personal favourite: instant noodles!!!

Although I am still sore about your betrayal to instant noodle, I must say a big thank you for your generosity in accepting my irreverent comments here.

Merry Christmas and happy anniversary!

Happy 2nd anniversary to your blog! :)

Indeed, it is spooky! Maybe, the month of December has a special place in the hearts of archers. ;p

Time really flies. I am lucky to be spared reading glasses still but I have been told by my optometrist that it should be any day now. :(

I enjoy your comments, irreverent or not. I really appreciate the time and effort you have put in to connect with me. :)

Only 3 years? Felt longer than that actually haha. Congratulations on your 3rd year anniversary! And many more happy returns on your blogging AK!

Merry Xmas too. May peace and good health fall upon all who visits your blog too :)

I do benefit quite a lot from your blogs. Fully agree that blogging takes a lot of energy and time. That is why I donot have a blog and also very lazy in updating my facebook :-)

Hope you wont permanently stop blogging after a shot break...Hahaha...Your analysis and viewpoints matter significantly to a rookie investor like myself.

Would like to take this opportunity to thank you for sharing the information and analysis frankly, objectively and openly.

Wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas and fruitful New Year ahead!

Hi AK,

Am a follower of your blog for 1.5 years.
Stumbled on to your blog when searching for building passive income back then.
Just want to say thank you for your true hearted sharing on road to passive income, thru your sharing was able to build up my portfolio.
Without ur sharing, I would not even have thought of starting on road to building passive income.
Thank you.
Happy birthday to ASSI and wish u a merry Xmas. :)

Thank you and Merry Christmas. :)

Hi Zhang Zheng,

I am happy that my blog has been helpful. Of course, I do not know everything and I do make mistakes. So, you have to take what I say with a pinch of salt. ;)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Hi William,

There are so many ways to generate passive income. Of course, like with anything, we have to evaluate each method and see which one has the best match with our abilities and temperament.

If my methods have worked for you, I am glad. :)

Thank you and Merry Christmas!

Hi Yeh,

Thank you and Merry Christmas! :) said...

hi AK

Been having some problem posting comments ... can read the posts but always hang when I click "post comment" link. But now all is good.

Anyway wanted to wish you and all fellow readers of your blog a Blessed Xmas! Your blog has the content level of an "aged" blog but in fact is a "youthful" one - only toddler. hahaha analogy is that of a youthful looking person with wisdom of a matured person :) Best of both worlds ...

I am glad to read that many like AK yourself also share your financial blessings with the less fortunate. An inspiration indeed.

Really try to live my life based on the tagline on Suze Orman show "People first, then Money, then Things"

"Love People , Use Money" not the other way round. :P

Hi EL,

Problem posting comments? Really? Perhaps, that would explain the paucity of comments in the last few hours. ;)

The blog is, perhaps, a reflection of the blog master. I am 41 and some tell me that I am still young but I feel old. I am overdue for reading glasses, according to my optometrist. ;p

I definitely subscribe to the idea of "people first".

"We often love things and use people when we should be using things and loving people." Something I remember from my primary school days. :)

Hi FoodieFC,

Sounds almost like a slogan from one of PAP's earlier GE campaigns: "More good years!" ;p

Happy belated birthday ASSI & AK. that made 3 of us, with 3 good years gone past. More good & regular years of blogging & sharing please.

Hi Serendib,

Crazy busy @ work is good news! It means you are not redundant and there is no risk of retrenchment. ;)

Merry Christmas!
