After watching the movie, I was so full of nostalgia that I decided to search for the anime I watched as a young boy. I found what I was looking for on YouTube and would like to share here with readers who might have the same feelings that I do. You know what, I like the anime more. ;-p

i love this cartoon as a child, and i even made my paper yamato just based on imagination and visual memories..
it was my favourite cartoon.. especially how they used to solve every problem/challenge by turning on the blaster and blow everything to bits..
spaceship yamato is truly ahead of its time..

I agree that the concept and the space battleship Yamato was light years ahead of its time. :)

Gosh. I didn't realise Yamato is actually the original Japanese version of my fav "Star Blazers" cartoon.
