In another week, my blog will be two years old. Yes, time flies, doesn't it?
It seems like just a few weeks ago when I started this blog out of curiosity and boredom. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined how it would grow into what it is today.
I took this photo almost a year ago with my Samsung camera phone. Still a favourite of mine. Nice blue lights for Christmas! |
I will be going away for a couple of weeks on another vacation. I will probably not be looking at the stock market or blogging in the meantime.
So, this is a big "thank you" in advance to everyone who has been encouraging me on my blogging journey thus far. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Hi KL,
Thank you so much for your well wishes. Happy holidays! :)
Hi AK71,
Merry Christmas and happy holiday.
After your battery recharged don't forget to come back fresh and ready to share your new investment insights.
Enjoy your holidays.
Cheers!
For a guy who is invested in the mkt and not looking at the mkt for a few weeks is a pure lied.
With today technology, we can access mkt from any civilised world.
What if euro implore and your stock get hanner during that few week? All your effort will be gone with the euro.
So your not looking at the mkt for a few weeks is a pure lied.
You can don't publish this post, but i am letting you know that from what i read , you are a lied.
Sorry for been honest and direct.
victor
Happy christmas and merry new 2012! Enjoy the vacation :)
Hi Temperament,
I am looking forward to some R&R. Will take lots of photos and update my travel blog when I return. I am more excited about this than blogging about investment related topics for now. ;p
Happy holidays! :)
Hi Victor,
If you think it is ok to apologise for being "honest" after calling someone a liar, it is not. You are very rude.
Last month, when I was away on a week long vacation in Hong Kong, I did not look at the stock market either. There is no way I can prove this, of course, but I don't have to either.
It is the first time anyone has called me a liar in my blog and it is unfortunate that I should read such a rude comment on the eve of my vacation.
Hi Hwang,
Thank you very much. Yes, a Happy Christmas and a Merry 2012! A switch around! Why not? ;)
Keep up the great work and hope to see more insightful blog posts in the next year :)
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!
What is a pure lied? Such english is not acceptable in "any civilised world".
Hi Ray,
I am only half of ASSI, the other half is made up of readers like yourself. :)
Insightful comments, constructive critisms and sensible questions from readers all serve to enrich ASSI and we have seen many of these lately.
Spread the word. The larger the community, the more we have to learn from each other.
So, I am looking forward to a new year of sharing. Happy holidays! :)
Hi AK,
Oops... Just want to clarify that the person who called you a liar in one of the comments was NOT me!
Have a nice vacation,
Victor from HK
Hi Victor from HK,
Hahaha.. Actually, I could tell. Didn't sound like you at all. I remember you have perfect English. ;p
Thanks and happy holidays! :)
AK,
Enjoy your holiday!
Congrat on NextInsight.
Look forward to your holiday photo too.
Wishing everyone here Merry X'mas & Happy New Year.
Half of ASSI? So do we get half of your dividend?...Just kidding. Enjoy your vacation and don't let some rude comments spoil your mood. Look forward to more good stuff from you next year. Merry Xmas and HNY.
ASSI, your & my bd in the same month! ★—★
thanks for sharing learned a lot and will continue learning. hoped that you will continue blogging, whenever you feel like saying something and willing to spare the time.
me to going on holidays too. except for a glimpse from the TV news, won't hawkeye the market either. Not just too much negative news but simply bcos I have no more ammo at this moment. AND wanted some real R&R.
Happy Holidays!
Have a nice holiday. I'm happy to have found your blog, only recently. Merry Christmas!

Hi Ak71,
I sense a cyber troll nesting his presence here. Anyway, it's always happening to any cyber space when the popularity gets higher (eg. STOMP, MCF, HWZF, etc).
Enjoy your holidays and don't worry about the market. For now we know the market is more stable than our MRT system. Haha. :D :D
And to the fake victor, check your grammar on the word "lied". :)
Hi AK 71
Glad to know that i make history. Any reward for my bad English??
That Victor from HK is your kaki in lying???
Who's the next victor??From USA, Brazil or Libya??
Wish you a merry truly lying Christmas.
victor, Singapore
Hi AK71,
i believe you. i do the same when i am on holidays. i do not look at the markets. This is where or how to tell the difference between a "Forever Speculators" and one who has upgraded himself to become a "All Weather Market Investors"
You are right when you said we have "same outlook" of the Markets more than i realise, Ha! Ha!
May i quote:_
"Everyone is entitled to his opinion but no one should be wrong with his facts."
And even "Entitlement to your own opinion" is questionable when it hurts someone.
May you let go of "everything" so that you may enjoy your holiday even more.
Cheers & Shalom!

Verbatin
Hi AK
Hope that you a nice break.
When are you coming back?
It is getting bored here.
Cheers

victor,
you are entitled wholly to your opinion but if you going to call someone a ‘pure lied’ (which is plain rude) publically you better be able to defend your position with hard facts.
If you put more effort to reading AK’s blog you will know he is rather zen about the market. With 75% of his investment in reits and from the way he buy reits at each support level, you will know he will be less affected emotionally if market is hammered.
He has also said many times in his blog that he do not normally cut loss when the market is heading downwards. If absolutely warranted he will only cut loss at resistance during a rebound. In any case, AK has effectively closed his books for the year and have little need to look at the market be it up and down.
Hi Yihhtan,
Thanks. :)
I just got back very early this morning. Will definitely try to find time to put up my holiday photos over the next few weeks (or months). ;)
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Hi touzi,
Hahaha... I am sure it is illegal for ASSI to act as an asset manager. ;-p
I enjoyed my vacation. Thank you. :)
Hi SnOOpy168,
Yes, must not let Mr. Market control our lives! Happy birthday and I hope you have an enjoyable vacation too. :)
Hi Foodie FC,
I enjoyed my vacation. Thank you.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. :)
Hi Jaime,
I am happy you are happy to have found my blog. ;)
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. :)
Hi INVS 2.0,
Cyber troll. Hmmm...
I checked Wikipedia:
In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion. The noun troll may refer to the provocative message itself, as in: "That was an excellent troll you posted".
Thanks for sharing this. I am really not in the know when it comes to lingo like this. ;p
SMRT is really a disgrace. The news was even in Japan! So shameful and all the while, I was enjoying seamless travel on the Japanese train network although it is much older by far. :(
Hi Victor, Singapore,
Victor from HK is a regular reader from Hong Kong and when he was in Singapore on vacation, I remember recommending the chicken rice at Chatterbox. Anyway, there is no need for me to prove anything to you.
Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. :)
Hi Temperament,
I enjoyed the vacation very much. Did a lot of sight seeing, some shopping and much thinking. Haha.. Yes, can't be help. I think a lot. ;p
I also took a lot of photos. Will try to put up a selection over the next few weeks (hopefully, not months). ;p
"All weather market investors." I like the sound of this. I always keep an umbrella handy, just in case. ;)
Hi Patrick,
Thanks for the words of encouragement.
Quite happy from the vacation but I will need to get more sleep and soon! Got home at 2am and slept at 3am. Woke up at 8am. Yawn.
Hi Chan,
You are really good at trading REITs. Hahaha.. :)
I don't look at PE for REITs. For LMIR, if it should go to 33c, the distribution yield would be about 10%. Gearing is of course under 10%. Good enough? ;)
Hi CS,
Apologies for my long absence. I'm back but I will probably take time to sort through things and getting up to speed again with things in Singapore.
I spent two hours unpacking and catching up on some news this morning. I cannot imagine what work has in store for me when I go back to the office tomorrow. I shudder at the thought.
