Mother Nature will find a way to right the imbalances. In Beijing, the official pollution index, which had showed an unhealthy rating before the storm hit, registered “excellent” after the storm, with the air noticeably free of its normal acrid smell. Full story: here.

Hi Ak71,
Global warming cannot be avoided even if humans completely halt the release of greenhouse gases.
The Earth is currently transiting from this ice age to the next (they say the next one is ready in 10000 years). During the process, the world's temperatures will rise and icebergs will melt.
Human activities are accelerating this process of heating. We can only slow down the process by releasing fewer tonnes of CO2 with the help of technology.

Global warming was part of my undergraduate studies. So, reading about these extreme weather conditions in recent years is like seeing textbook scenarios coming alive!
Singapore is likely to get wetter during the wet season and an increased incidence of flooding is to be expected.
In recent years, I have been doing my bit to reduce my carbon footprint. I reduce, reuse and recycle.
If everyone is more aware of the environmental challenges and chip in to help, I think there is hope yet.
