In my first year or so as a blogger, I would track and analyse my blog's traffic and I even published reports complete with charts every few months. A reader said that I was producing quarterly reports like listed companies. Anyway, after slightly more than a year doing it, I stopped. I guess the novelty wore off.
Today, I look at Alexa and was pleasantly surprised to find that ASSI has made its way into the top 1,000 websites in Singapore. I feel that this is probably a milestone and so, I am sharing this bit of discovery here with my readers. If ASSI were indeed a business like some people tell me it should be, I guess a special dividend could be declared. ;-p

Hi AK71,
Congratulations! You richly deserve it. Wish you will get into top 500 soon.
Cheers,

Hi VK,
Thanks. :)
Top 500? That is really beyond my imagination.
Already, getting into the top 1,000 is quite a surprise. I am still wondering how it happened.

My cheerleading boleh?
Hi AK,
a well deserved accolade. I think you are more famous than you know. A number of google searches puts you at the top of the list. :)
cheers
jere
Hi SMOL,
I can imagine you as a cheerleader. Sexy! Kamsiah. ;)
Male cheerleader brings it on!
Hi Jere,
Thank you for your kind words.
I value my privacy too much to want to be famous. So, I am lucky I chose to blog anonymously when I did. ;p
Congrats AK. Appreciate your sharing. Now I am waiting for that annual update : Will it be S$160k passive income in 2012 ?....
Hi SnOOpy168,
Thank you. You are the second person to ask for an "annual update" so far. :)
When I reported my total passive income from S-REITs for 2011, I mentioned that I would probably not do a similar blog post this year because I don't think it is very useful other than to inspire.
Let me think about it again. I know there could be readers who are wondering how I am managing my portfolio of S-REITs.
There is one more month to year end. If I get more requests like yours, then, I would probably do it. :)
Anyway, it is not going to be $160k. If you remember, the target I set for myself for 2012 was $120k.
I diverted funds into stocks this year, looking for possibly bigger capital gains. This requires more time to bear fruits. Crossing fingers.
Good Stuff matey!
ThumbsUP*
Hi JCK,
I am happy that my blog is able to help spread ideas on financial independence. This could be my biggest contribution to society. :)
Congrats....
Your hard work (and good insights) paid off :)
Not to mention your wonderful "customer service" - replying every single comment with courtesy !!
On the courtesy part, I think you and I both know there are bloggers who DONT think that's a must. ;)
So thumbs up to you AK :)
Hi Ray,
Thanks for the kind words. :)
"Customer service"? Sounds like I am running a business but, yes, I try to run my blog professionally although there are times when I feel I am spread a bit thin.
Although I am spending less time blogging these days, I still feel that it could be too much. For example, I just spent more than an hour organising the links in the right sidebar again. Hopefully, it is an improvement. :)
you mean there's a right side bar? ... i'm kidding ;)
Sidebar lah. Not side bar. ;)
I think the pub business is a difficult one. Look at Harry's.
I wonder if anyone here invested in Harry's.
Hi AK,
I am one of your subscribers and this definitely deserve my first comment here and it's a very big CONGRATZ to you!
$120K annual cash inflow is really amazing!!! Even you don't work, your income already in top 20% in sg.
Hi Matt,
Thanks very much and I look forward to more comments from you in future. ;)
Hi Ah John,
I don't know if it means I am in the top 20% of income earners since I never really compared. However, I believe I can be quite comfortable since I am not a high maintenance guy. :)
Hi AK
恭喜老爷 hee hee....
and yes yeah the 'annual report'...this will add one to your number of requests liao:)
Hi Kim,
Thank you. :)
Et tu? Oh, the pressure... -_-"
Congratulations AK.
Cheers!
Hi Derek,
Thank you. It is a milestone TheFinance crossed a long time ago, I am sure. :)
Hi AK71,
Hope I'm not too late sending my FAR AWAY congratulations! I'm in Korea now. Cold~~. *TREMBLE*
You deserve a much bigger feather on your hat! Talking about contributions to the society, the gahmen gotto thank you for influencing sooo many of us to prep well for our retirement. Easy job for the gahmen next time. You should get a National Day Award or something! :D
Cheers,
Endrene
Hi AK,
Nope, I'm still way behind you. Still lots of catching up for me. ;)
Cheers!
Hi AK,
Wah...envious...green eyes...
Anyway, congrats!! More ad revenues to come! :)
Congratulations AK,
Well and truly deserved. And thank you for the wonderful and educational post thru the years.
Here's to many, many more years to come.
Cheers
KL
Hi Endrene,
Korea at this time of the year should be freezing! The last time I was there was a few years ago during CNY and it was -3 degrees celcius! I travelled with my own pillow that year and when we reached the hotel, I took my pillow out of my Samsonite and it was as hard as a rock! Memory foam pillow, you see. Haha...
A National Day award from the government? Hahaha... I would be very worried if that should happen. :)
There are many local bloggers who have been around far longer, are better qualified and have done much more. Collectively, all local financial bloggers have made contributions in education through their blogging efforts.
If my blog has helped to emphasise the importance of financial independence to more people, I am happy. :)
Hi Derek,
TheFinance is a very popular resource for local investors and traders, I believe.
Whenever people ask me for a local website where they can read about investing in the stock market, I would point them to your blog aggregator. It is a great service you are providing. :)
Hi Thomas,
Aiyoh, please don't start on that topic or I might be accused of having ulterior motives for blogging again. ;p
However, since you have mentioned it, ad revenue has not grown much. We financial bloggers definitely do not make big money from our blogs like Xiaxue or Mr. Brown.
I should dye my hair blonde, wear blue contact lens and compose humorous songs about Singapore! I shall be known as "Brown Snow"! ;p
Hi KL,
Thank you for the kind words. :)
Blogs are a form of social media and it is the interaction with readers which makes blogs different from newsletters. Without the interaction, I think I could have given up by now.
I will most likely continue to blog and I hope readers will continue to be engaged. :)
Congrats AK
It shows how much we appreciate your postings and opinions.
Ps: the same goes to all who contributed to the discussions in this blog ( excluding myself.. Haha)
Hi opal,
I always look forward to reading comments. The only request I have is for them to be civil.
My blog has been lucky to have many high quality comments as well as reminders and corrections from readers.
So, I continue to look forward to comments from you and everyone else. Thank you. :)
Well deserved, there must be a reason why i am reading your blog on a regular basis! ;)
Hi Kyran,
It sounds like you have an addiction problem. haha.. Thanks for the encouragement. :)
Hahaha if it is addiction I would consider it as a worthwhile addiction then. Keep the articles coming AK!
Hi Kyran,
Yikes! I was under the impression that addictions are bad. Hahaha... Er... One day, I might get writer's block... ;p
hahaha i hope that day doesn't come soon...i do enjoy a good sensible read everyday!
Hi Kyran,
I like the way you put it. You are a realist. Yes, the day will come but let us hope it is not soon. :)
Of course, I could also become mentally unstable one day but continue to write. There goes your daily "sensible" read then. ;p
