In fact, you could get a Fillet-O-Fish or a Big Mac or a 6 piece McNugget value meal for S$3.30 each! Where in Singapore?
Unfortunately, not in Singapore but in Hong Kong.
Cheap! |
When QB House increased their price from S$10 to S$12 here, I was taken aback. That was a 20% increase in price! Anyway, I soon got over it until I saw this:
Cheap! |
HK$50 which is about S$8 only!
What did I do? Got myself a haircut and felt quite smug about it. Used the S$4 saved to buy myself a Fillet-O-Fish value meal and I still had 70c left over! Smug City!
Yummy! |
We really have to travel to feel how strong the S$ is now and how expensive things have become in our country.
With the S$ so strong, is there more that can be done to reduce the cost of living in Singapore? I wonder.

Some of the money you paid to QB house Singapore goes to rental and then went back to the REITS and then to the dividends you collected. So as price increases, yield also increases. So not so bad for you.
My hair cut at a saloon in Toa Payoh is only S#3.80. S$8, is too expensive lah
Hi Tien,
I have very little exposure to S-REITs with shopping centres as assets. ;)
Hi SnOOpy168,
You win! :D
Hmm I do a haircut and shampoo for $20? Expensive? But if I factor in the head massage during shampooing, then it's worthwhile.
I also never go QB house anymore.. went to those neighbourhood one is much better.. 1.90 if you are a member.. :D
Hi Kyran,
Many years ago, I used to go to Jean Yip for that kind of atas haircut because a friend was working as a hairstylist there. $15.90. :D
Hi pero,
$1.90? I think you win hands down! ;p
Hi AK, unfortunately the head massage is the only form of massage I could afford to go for nowadays...
Hi Kyran,
I am sure you can afford a full body massage. You probably just do not think it is value for money. ;)
Hi AK, I just find the booking of appointment in advance too ley cheh and I can get more value for $ massages overseas ;)
Hi Kyran,
These days, I have a haircut as and when I walk past a QB or EC House that is not too packed! ;p
It is not just massages, almost everything is cheaper outside of Singapore. :(
s$1.90 ! super win liao
used to enjoy a hair wash, shoulder+neck+head massage & a hair cut for just s$3 in shenzhen. brought loads of friends there too, enroute returning to HK or dinner or spa outings. now with RMB strenghtening, it has doubled with dropping standards & reduced crowds.
i just stick to simple hair cut
Hi SnOOpy168,
I also say! No question about it! Win 101% hands down. :D
