Every dollar counts.
UPDATE (DECEMBER 2016):
After more than two years, my cheapo LED HDTV is still brilliant and trouble free. I think it is safe to reveal the brand now:
If you are not brand conscious, you can get this brand of TV in Giant hypermarts. I feel that it is definitely good value for money.

2014:
I have been super busy and super tired recently. I would get home at about 11pm, take a shower, read the news a bit and go to bed. So, you can imagine that I have not had much inclination to blog.
Today, I took some time off from work to do my own things and chatted a bit on FB with readers and thought it interesting enough to share with readers who don't follow me on FB:
Some of you might remember that I bought an expensive (but value for money) bed and mattress recently but I have settled for an inexpensive TV even more recently.
This is even less expensive than the Chimei brand 26" LCD TV I bought 8 years ago for $699 for my old place.
I don't know if I should reveal the brand for my latest purchase or not. I don't want to have readers who might be unhappy with the quality hounding me.
Anyway, with age comes aches and pains and with these come wisdom. This lately acquired wisdom tells me that the bed is more important than the TV. Hence, my decisions.
Unless born with a spoon made of some precious metal in our mouths, all of us have rather limited resources and must make the wisest use of our money.

I could not afford it but now I can.

I would do that too! A good mattress is important, a good night sleep make a better day when we wake up.
Some items can just go for cheap one, it just depends on how we view the value for money. The item may not last as long as a more expensive or more quality one but things like electronic items, the technology advancement is fast. By the time the cheaper one spoil, one can get a newer one with better technology while the other one still have to live with the older technology or will have to cut loss and change, even if it is still working, to enjoy the technology advancement.
No right no wrong. Different people different value.
Wa, why I work till so late? Big Business? Take care ...
TV the same la, but smart TV does have its uses. Show you tube on TV, my son need not strand the eyes on phone.
Hi StocksKeeper,
Well, I was thinking along similar lines really. The last TV I bought was quite atas and I gave it to my sister when I moved in with her. She just sold it away to a rags and bones man for $15 because it was becoming unreliable. It was maybe 5 years old.
So, if this new TV I bought is able to last 3 years, I would consider it very good. Just throw and buy a new one. Didn't spend big money on it. So, won't feel big pain. ;p
Hi Mike,
Lots of stuff happening on the personal front. Nothing really to do with my work. :)
Watch Youtube on a TV? That sounds like very advance IT stuff to me. ;p
Well, health comes first, anytime. Always a good reason to spend money for good health. :)
Gasp! I'm surprised u bought a tv.
I'm even considering not to hv tv in future when i bought my flat. ;)
Hehehehe. ...just kidding.
You don't need an atas TV to watch Youtude on TV. Just one of those TV box, e.g. AppleTV (cost $148+GST) can liao. With this, you can also watch all the movies on TV instead of directly from your ipad.
Back to original topic. I always buy good mattress and shoes. These are things you use everyday and long time. So they better be good and comfortable. TV? My TV always last very long, not because of good brand, but because they are seldom used.
Hi pf,
I like to watch the news and I also enjoy watching HD programs from time to time.
I bought a Blu Ray player a few years ago too. This is an affordable luxury. ;p
I would like to try another mattress but my 20 year old hygienic comfortable sponge mattress is too much of a disincentive.
Reader:
