AK:

If you enjoy writing, you will enjoy blogging. It is really that simple. :)

People who start blogging because they think they can make money will (mostly) give up after a while... ;p

Reader:
Money will be the least consideration.

AK:
But it is time consuming... So, you have to think about that especially when you have many comments and also emails to reply to over time...

A good way for me to kill time ;p

Reader:
lol
in a way, u enjoy it?

AK:
Not as much as I used to... quite honestly

Reader:
becoming more of a chore?

AK:

these days, i self censor
also many readers... comments and emails...
i try to reply all...

Reader:
these days, even govt agency reads yr blog lol

AK:
when some commercial outfits write to me... offer to increase my readership, I told them "no, thank you"
i not doing this as a biz
i dun need
ya.... govt read also... say wrong stuff, go to chia thye poh old place... cham... scary
OK... i go take a nap liao

About: Scolded by wife...

I am thinking about taking a break from blogging and all its related activities.

So, don't be too concerned if you do not hear from me as regularly as before for the next few weeks (or months).

In the meantime, remember that as long as you are doing the right things, you are probably moving in the right direction.

If you believe in investing for income for a better future, it is important to believe in yourself first.

Believe that you can do it and you will.

Believe that this is a journey worth going on, stay the course and you will surely be rewarded.

Gambatte!

I LOL'd hard at the Chia Thye Poh comment.

Anyway I do believe in passive income as a way to counter the effects of working long hours in SG. Further to add, my parents believe in giving more and you'll receive more in return. Many have seen that you have given much of your time to help many more to plan and manage their financial life. I'm following that footsteps as well to share and help as many as I can.

As you said before, small stream can become a big river. I too one day hope to enjoy that big river as you had. Thanks for your blog entries and inspirations.

Hi AK,

You're doing a great job talking to yourself. We will surely miss your inner thoughts.

Besides reading your blog, I regularly read Zen Habits. Such a coincidence that he should write this post as you wrote yours. Please have a read. Maybe it will give you a special meaning.

All the best. And thanks again for bringing me on this special journey of Investing for Income,

ED

Hi AK,

Rest well and ignore those naysayers/critics. The readership you get from government agencies speaks volume for itself.

Dear AK

oh no, if you stop blogging, where am I going to get my fix of investment tidbits, reminders of adding oil and "stopspendingmoneyonrubbish" nagging.

I can feel the withdrawal syptoms already...

Hi Scopion,

I believe that everyone's life can be and should be better. If talking to myself has helped fellow Singaporeans and even PRs towards this end, I am happy.

Please keep sharing and you will inspire others too. :)

Hi ED,

I want as little stress as possible in my life now. Blogging is a hobby but for a while now, it was beginning to feel like work. I said before that once it feels like work, I might not enjoy it as much. So, a break from blogging is probably a good idea. :)

Hi Kevin,

You have always been an encouraging voice. Gambatte! :)

Hi LY,

Alamak. I hope IMH is not going to see more patients because of this. ;p

I have more than 2,000 blog posts and one reader told me it is closing in on 3,000. So, there is plenty of material to read. Since I believe that my philosophy in money matters and investment is timeless, you could read and read again. It could be for inspiration or it could be for revision. No withdrawal symptoms worry. :)

Yes AK, take a well-deserved rest, and should you miss blogging, return to it with a rejuvenated mind.

Yes, your blog posts are teemed with timeless advice. So please leave it open for your readers, like me, who still go to respective posts for reference.

Thanks again for all your hard work, and rest well.

Dear AK,

A huge thanks for all the bits of wisdom so far. As young lad at 25 and I'm really grateful for you opening up my eyes. Shortened my learning curve a lot I think. I'll continue to persevere in this journey!

Billy

Hi AK,

This is Joe from Hong Kong. I have read most of your posts recently, and found that they are very insightful and I did learn a lot from you, indeed. Thank you! I started to invest SIN Reits in this Sep (as the dividend yield is comparatively much higher than HK), aiming to build up a stream of passive income for my retirement after 10+ years.

My portfolio consists of : SoildBuild, Maple Tree Greater China, Ascot, Cambridge, Aims AMP. It will be great if you could share your comments about my portfolio.

Would also like to seek your view about the upcoming REIT ETF, to be commenced on Oct 20 in SGX? Given the yield is projected to be 4.53%, but the total return is double-digits. Shall I place some bet on it?

Many thanks for your replies.

Joe

Hi Billy,

Youth is an asset because time is on your side. You are doing the right thing by not squandering it. Soldier on. :)

AK71 said...

Hi Joe,

Know your motivations and you will know what to do. If the tools you employ will help you achieve what you have in mind, you are doing the right thing. You know best if your portfolio will do the job for you, not me. ;)

I have zero insights on the REIT ETF. So, your guess is as good as mine. For what it is worth, I will say that nobody can really guarantee that the ETF will have a double digits total return. ;p

Reader says...
You have been quiet lately.. I am very sure you are reading up on cryptocurrencies?

AK says...
Blogging regularly was beginning to feel tiresome.

I knew that if I didn't slow down, I might stop blogging altogether.

Hence, the laziness. ;)

As for cryptos, I have read enough to know that many people do not understand that they are speculators and not investors. ;p

There are even people who talk about Bitcoin as being the next Amazon and Apple but it is not even an apple to apple comparison.

Amazon and Apple are businesses which can be valued.

“You can’t value bitcoin because it’s not a value-producing asset...it's a real bubble in that sort of thing,” Warren Buffett. "People get excited from big price movements, and Wall Street accommodates."
