ASSI is everywhere
These bunch of kids only dare to envy, don't dare to take actions.
And shared this screen shot:
"Then can start a blog blog abt yr wealth, take screemshot n post here let everyone envy.
"Tiagong it's ASSI."
Alamak!
Why like that?
Talking to myself, my intention is to inspire myself to take steps towards financial freedom.
Definitely, I am not out to make anyone "jin jelly" (HWZ lingo for "jealous").
I apologize if I have made anyone "jin jelly".
Honestly, very cham like that.
No wonder I sneezing like mad.

AK is famous in HWZ.
When a particular stock that AK owns go up in price, it was called the "AK71 Effect".
Also, accolades such as "Yoda", "Grandmaster Investor", "Mentor", "Exceptional Wonder", "Guru", "Ultimate Inspiration" are in various threads.
One netizen even used this wondrous phrase "Financial Abundance" rather then the common phrase "Financial Independence".
Hi Ak,
There is no need to apologise as we all know that sharing is caring. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge and experience. We appreciate it.
Jane
Sorry you have to put up with the bashing.
Unfortunately that is the other side of the coin.
Revealing the wealth you make from just dividends makes many very jealous.
They dont understand that it takes a huge amount of time, and yes, stinginess to
do what you did.
I believe you and your ideals. They are sound.
But the world is populated with a variety of personalities.
It is also this variety that enables the retail businesses to earn a profit.
From one end of the spectrum to another. You are on one end. Those that are jealous are on the other!
It was not a motivating comment. But I am sure your skin has hardened over the years from blogging, from making losses in share trades or what not.
The belief that you are doing something to help people is noble.
But you have a very wide audience, so there will be people who disagree and are jealous.
Happy New Year anyway!
bo pian leh if rich cannot stop people from envying :P you should post a photo stuffing your pillow with $50 notes LOL
just take those comments with a pinch of salt. school holidays previously alot of kids and adults with free time!!
Hi Laurence,
It is a double edged sword, unfortunately.
Hi Jane,
Thank you for the encouragement. :)
Hi veronika,
Although it is not something I asked for, it comes with the territory, I know.
I blog because I enjoy it and because sharing my story has helped people, I enjoy it even more. :)
However, I am only human and I do feel hurt by unkind remarks.
Fortunately, I am able to rant about it in my blog and, unfortunately, readers have to bear it with me.
Bad AK! Bad AK!
Happy 2018! :)
Hi JQ,
Honestly, I don't even feel rich.
I can almost hear some people saying things like "he is fishing for a compliment again" or something in the background.
Really, I feel more comfortable than I did in my younger days but I don't feel rich.
It is hard for a peasant millionaire to feel rich in Singapore.

There is such a thing as oversharing and not sharing actual numbers if you know if it causes envy.
I suspect honestly AK you are reaching that point. Any sharing of net worth details above 5m I suspect attracts envy and may feel out of reach to some readers. Of course the core group understand and will still find your stuff useful.
So either
1) ignore the haters which may grow as you share numbers they feel envious about and just focus on your fans.
Or
2) change the way you share to reduce less exact numbers. Historical posts will give them some context already.
There is a reason why almost you don’t see anyone worth 8 or more digits sharing actual number on their portfolio. Returns can, allocation can, investment reasons can but not actual number.

The actual numbers are motivating. It gives a sense that it is achievable despite being an employee.

Zi Kai, totally agree. More people need to take responsibility and use their capability to plan for own retirement! And ak shows a very possible path for majority of white collar!
What I hope to see next is ak going beyond just saving and investing and share his life journey and what is meaning and purpose for him. He has already enough cash flow and savings to last, so what next for someone so disciplined and thoughtful is very interesting to me!
AK says...
I am just enjoying life now and doing stuff that I didn't have enough time to do before.
I was disciplined and thoughtful so that I can be less disciplined and thoughtful as I enjoy an early retirement.
OK, I will admit that it is hard and I still feel guilty for spending a bit too much money on myself sometimes but I am learning to let my hair down.

国外现在很流行FIRE:financial independence, retire early

These 3 accounts belong to the same person who brag about his 300 per month expenses and criticize almost every single strategy for stock investment.
Even that ahboy82 is also a troll.
Hi AK,
Be yourself and don't bother with the comments online. Peace of mind is the solution to the online comments especially the haters type. There is no one you need to answer except yourself.
You are generous enough to share your insights with the general public. I am glad that most readers appreciates your effort though there are handsome few who criticise your effort for being "boastful".
The most important thing is to be happy in what you are doing. The most extreme importance is to have a lasting retirement journey on your own term and condition. The rest is secondary.
Ben
Hi Ben,
I find it more amusing than anything, really. ;)
I rather spend time playing Neverwinter than to read the forums. ;p
