$2.00 breakfast and $1.00 dinner.

Thursday, September 12, 2013

It has been a while since I bought vegetarian bee hoon for breakfast as I usually have oatmeal from home.

$2.00 for a big packet of bee hoon with vegetables and tofu. Extravagant compared to my usual oatmeal but I should pamper myself once in a while, right? Yummy!

Here is a photo of my simple and delicious dinner:

$1.00 is just an estimate. Half the price of my breakfast and I got lots of vitamin E from the Kiwifruit too. Eating less at night these days. Well, I try to anyway.

Hi Gary,

I try to take in less meat these days. I think less meat is good. :)

Hi yeh,

I don't even spend $2 on breakfast most of the time. I usually take half a bowl of oatmeal. Sometimes, I would take 2 slices of bread with jam or margarine.

It is a lifestyle I am used to and it so happens that I save some money this way. Not something which everyone finds practicable, I am sure. :)

Hi Ah John,

When I was an undergrad, a lecturer told me the same thing. Have smaller meals but more frequently. Big meals are bad for us, it seems.

Hi Ak,
Kudo to u for able to live such a frugal and healthy lifestyle. I think less than 2% of Singaporeans suffered from malnutrition, but at least 20% suffer from illness of affluence such as diabetics, obesity, HBP etc. I think as I aged... I am fast joining the 20%. Sigh...

I wonder what you have for lunch?

Hi Mike,

I have my weaknesses too. I like chocolates and ice cream. However, I don't take as much as I used to.

I also eat more (and better) when I go out with friends and family. I don't eat much when I am alone. :)

Hi BP,

I was wondering if anyone would ask me this. ;p

I had 2 buns (a tuna bun and a cheese bun) bought the night before (80c each) for lunch.

I also had some crackers and milo for tea (courtesy of the office pantry). :)

Ak,

If I eat your kinda of dinner, I gonna need a pack of bee Hoon and a bowl of porridge for breakfast the next day....not going to help ...austerity drive is getting somewhere;) too busy working till midnight to spend any $$$ online or shopping ;). Credit card bill finally falls below $1k!

Hi Garfield,

Actually, our stomachs will "shrink" if we continue to eat less. The stomach grows use to having less food. These days, I can't eat much because my stomach is "smaller" now. :)

Congratulations on the success of your austerity drive although I am not sure that working till midnight for days in a row is a good idea. :(

Hi AK,

I will faint if I adhere to your diet. I can't live without food. Eating is my passion. I live to eat. LoL

Cheers!
Derek

Hi Derek,

I don't eat a lot usually but I do eat more when I go out with friends and family (then, it costs more too). However, I do have a weakness for chocolates and ice cream. Die. Feel like having some ice cream now. ;p

Anyway, I think you are probably physically fitter and more active than I am. So, eating more is OK for you. I am quite sedentary. So, eating less is sensible. :)

Hi YX,

I believe that the modern day person eats too much. Eating less is a good thing in more ways than one. :)
