On Life And Investments.

Wednesday, January 8, 2025

Readers who follow me in my YouTube community tab would know that I have been busy with many things at home.

Some might remember this recent video,

Link to watch the YouTube video.

I said that in 2025, I might have nothing to do on the investment front.

Now, it is more accurate to say that I don't feel like doing anything on that front.😷

I seem to have lost interest in looking at investments at least for now.🙈

Depending on what happens at home, I could stop talking to myself for a few weeks or much longer.

I think my investment portfolio doesn't need much attention from me, thankfully.🤞

Keeping the status quo isn't a terrible thing for me.

Even with higher expenses expected in 2025, I should have some surplus passive income.

See Expenses in 2025.

The easiest thing for me to do is to park the surplus in T-bills and FDs while I am in this mode.

I will be back talking to myself at some point but I might not be talking about investments as much.

I must accept this move into another stage in my life. 🙊

Some people might feel disappointed but I have said many times before that blogging and YouTube are both hobbies.

I don't have paid memberships or subscriptions or paywalls like some content creators have.

I feel I have to say this because there are some people who have said I must take responsibility before and that I should not leave readers in a lurch.😱

I feel that this is an important post to publish to help manage expectations.💯

I am happiest whenever readers tell me that they are inspired to achieve financial freedom after eavesdropping on me.😊

If AK can do it, so can you.🎊

P.S. See you on 15 Jan if you are coming to the meet up. Don't worry. That is still on.

Hope your life turns for the better.

This is the first time I am hearing of the meet up. Can you share more on this?

Hi J,

Thanks for sharing. Noted it is sold out, should I still come?

Hi J,
It isn't going to be a life changing event.
Come only if you want to participate in a massive group chit chat session.
If so, just pay Kenji $38 at the door and we can add a chair.

hi AK, I was consistently following your blogs in 2024 so I could hear the change in your voice and mood particularly in the ones in Sep iirc. I must say that 2024 was a bad year for me too. As I have been looking for a change of job (pay does not increase, growth is stagnant) but no opportunities came through an offer. Hope 2025 will be a good one for us and I can learn from my interview mistakes and secure a job offer, and your family's health will improve and flourish.

I appreciate the modesty, I'll check my calendar again. Most likely I can make time to come. See you there.

Can't wait to see u again in person soon, shifu! Without ya blog, i wouldn't be where i am today in terms of managing my personal and family finances. And my wife is inspired in managing her finances too. Both of us also listen to ya youtube videos as well. But nevertheless, take it ez and prioritize ya family 1st :)

Hi J,
I am sure I was just telling the truth and not being modest. ;p

Hi Cheryl,
Unfortunately, I have to be prepared for worse things to happen but we hope for the best, of course. Good luck to all of us. 🤞

Hi Netviper,
I am so happy to hear that talking to myself has been helpful to you.
Thank you so much for the kind words. 🤞

Looking to hear you on Wednesday. Do continue to post

Hi AK,

Thank you for your generous sharing.
Can I ask for your views on banks?

1. Is dbs bank valuation very high now at $44.00?

2. Will you hold banks even when earnings drop? I don't think there are better places to park cash. The concern is selling them, no where to park cash except t bill. And the passive income drop.

Hi Siew Mun,
I will probably continue to create content. Just going through a rough patch now. See ya later. 👋

AK71 said...

Hi ValueHunter,
Well, it depends on what kind of investor you are. Your nickname says it all. 🤭

It will go away AK. Take care. C u this evening.

Hi AK, may I ask what’s your view about investing in the banks VS CICT and Mapletree Commercial Trust? I feel some of the REITs are truly cheap now and the interest rates are unlike to increase in near future anyway. Thank you!

AK71 said...

Hi Pauline,
I am sure of that and in more ways than one. Thank you 👋

Hi SL,
You want to look at all the ratios and compare them. Look at the dividend yields, the earnings yields and the payout ratios for a start.
As for interest rates, no one knows for sure where they are going. It is all speculation at best.
